"He who works his land will have abundant food, but the one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty."
"A stingy man is eager to get rich and is unaware that poverty awaits him."
"He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is kept safe."
Have a great week!
I've always felt like there was an implied "only" in that last quote: "He who trusts ONLY in himself..." That is to say, that we should not ignore all the wisdom that God has placed before us for our benefit. We must to a certain degree engage in self trust, for it is the natural consequence of self examination. But since we cannot look at ourselves properly in the dark, we would do well to learn to recognize wisdom when it is presented to us. It is the standard against which we judge ourselves.
ReplyDeleteyes...but the only thing in us that is trustworthy is what God has put there...for the heart is deceitful above all things, and DESPERATELY wicked...(at least mine is:))
