I'm putting the lyrics to another of my favorite songs out here for you today. The part of the song that really touches me is: "Blessed be your name, When the sun's shining down on me, When the world's all as it should be, Blessed be your name. Blessed be your name, On the road marked with suffering, Though there's pain in the offering, Blessed be your name." It is so easy to praise God when things are bright and sunny. It's easy to say we will praise God when we walk the road marked with suffering...it's an entirely other thing to actually do it. It takes a marked effort; it is anything but natural. All our inclinations are to rail against Him who has made our life so difficult. I speak to myself when I say, "Resist the urge." Praise Him in the storm. I have seen some powerful examples of this these past few weeks in watching the Nance and Simmons families lose their sons. It has been a beautiful thing to watch and a reminder of how real God is. Here are the lyrics, and a link to a youtube video of the Newsboys singing the song with scenes from "Passion of the Christ." Don't watch without tissues...but it is so worth your 4 minutes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRqzCN2mvD4
Blessed be your name
In the land that is plentiful
Where the streams of abundance flow
Blessed be your name
Blessed be your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed be your name
Every blessing you pour out,
I turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say...
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your glorious name
Blessed be your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's all as it should be
Blessed be your name
Blessed be your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be your name
Every blessing you pour out,
I turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say...
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your glorious name
You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, Blessed be your name
